Types of Trucks Used for Cargo Transport

For low weight goods, we use trucks with tarpaulin or closed structure (vans) of 1.5 up to 3.5 tons of load capacity, which can ensure an efficient and flexible transport. As well, these trucks can be equipped and approved with ADR for transport of dangerous goods.

The trucks of 20 tons with tarpaulin or closed structure (vans) are means of standard goods transportation, which can often be found on all transport routes. Having a length of the semi-trailer of 13.60m, width of 2.45m, tarpaulin heigth of 2.70m and a volume of approximately 90 cubic meters, this type of trucks can carry 20 tons of goods. The standard trucks of 20 tons can serve your needs of transportation, both for partial transport and for full load transport from and to any destination. They are recommended for palletized cargo transports, the number of transported Europallets being 33. The trucks with tarpaulin semi-trailers are also used for transport of long cargoes, which can be loaded from the sideways.

The special trucks of MEGA and JUMBO types, unlike the standard ones, can load in their semi-trailers a greater amount of cargo. The MEGA trucks have a taller tarpaulin, of up to 3.00m, thus ensuring the loading of a volume of approximately 100 cubic meters, at a loading capacity of maximum 21 tons. The JUMBO trucks have, unlike the other types of trucks, a „swan-neck” semi-trailer. The floor represents the so-called „scene”, of 4m in length, a bit higher. The tilt has 8 shutters designed for the loading of cargo from the sideways. The heigth of 3m is only in the back and on the scene there is a lenght of 4m with a heigth which differs depending on the manufacturer (2.40, 2.50 or 2.55m). Thus, it is reached a volume of approximately 95 cubic meters, at a loading capacity of maximum 21 tons.

Another type of special trucks are the van-like trucks of 20 tons designed for the transport of garments and textiles (equipped with horizontal bars for hangers).

Refrigerated trucks ensure the national or international transport for goods with different degrees of perishability. The goods which can be transported using the refrigerated trucks are usually from the food category.

If you are not sure which type of truck is appropriate for the transport of your goods, contact us and we will establish together the best transportation solution.

Types of Cargo Appropriate for National Transport

Transport of palletized cargo

europallet cargo The pallet is a special structure on which the cargo is arranged, with a design especially conceived to be manipulated easily with the help of lift trucks or small cranes. These can be made of wood, cardboard, metal or plastic. The dimensions of the pallets are standardized, some differences appearing between the ones used in USA and the ones used in Europe (which are also called Europallets).

The cargoes that can be palletized include, but are not limited to:

  • equipments (components, subassemblies, spare parts, etc.);
  • electronics and home appliances;
  • textiles (clothing, shoes, etc.);
  • food (frozen, canned, dried, precooked, etc.);
  • alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, bottled water, etc.

Bulk Cargoes

bulk cargo Bulk cargoes are those cargoes which are not packed in a standardized form: pallet or container. These can be divided into two categories according to their presentation: actual bulk cargoes and bulk cargoes by piece.

Actual bulk cargoes are those cargoes which are not packed in any form. This kind of goods are cereals, minerals (ferrous and nonferrous), coal, cement, wood, some chymical products (fertilizers, wood powders, granules and plastic pellets, synthetic fibers, etc.), food (potatoes, sugar, salt, seeds), crushed or sorted quarry products (sand, aggregates, rough stone), etc.
Bulk cargoes by piece are the goods packed in bags, boxes, ballots, barrels or other containers. In the same category come other products by piece, such as non-containerized vehicles and equipment.

Containerized Cargo Transport

cargo container Containerization is a standard system of packaging of different goods with the purpose of their intermodal transport.
The containers come in a number of versions and offer the possibility of road, rail, sea or air transport.
The types of goods which can be containerized include, but are not limited to:

  • equipments (components, subassemblies, spare parts, etc.);
  • textiles (clothing, shoes, etc.);
  • steel materials (sheet, wire, steel rod, metal profiles, pipes, etc.);
  • timber and wood products;
  • machinery (petroleum, industrial, agricultural equipment, etc.);
  • vehicles;
  • food (frozen, canned, dried, precooked, etc.);
  • alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, bottled water, etc.
